An article on EMR & HIPAA reports the top EHR vendors based on the percentage of Meaningful Use attestations by physicians. This only includes ambulatory EHRs. Also note that this refers to the only 20% of practices that have attested to Meaningful Use.
One vendor that stands out is Epic – however, Epic does not market to independent clinics or physician groups, only hospitals. The reason that it is at the top of the first list is because of the practices that hospitals own or have a stake in.
EHR Vendor | MU Attestations | Percentage |
Epic | 11075 | 23% |
Allscripts | 5743 | 12% |
eCW | 4057 | 8% |
NextGen | 2237 | 5% |
GE | 2002 | 4% |
Athena | 1733 | 4% |
Greenway | 1650 | 3% |
Cerner | 1375 | 3% |
CCSI | 1264 | 3% |
e-MDs | 1235 | 3% |
Practice Fusion | 1156 | 2% |
Sage | 1140 | 2% |
Other EHRs (272) | 14358 | 29% |
If you take Epic off the list, things make a lot more sense:

eCW | 4057 | 11% |
NextGen | 2237 | 6% |

e-MDs | 1235 | 3% |
Practice Fusion | 1156 | 3% |
